1. What is the Rental Agreement?
A rental agreement is a formal contract signed by the customer and on behalf of Capital Hire at the time of the checkout. This legal binding shows the terms and the conditions, the rate applied, insurance document, and the damage inspection report.

2. What documents do I need to provide at the Capital Hire counter when I pick the car up?
The customer needs to present a driving license in the customer’s name, issued by the country of residence. The license must be a valid license (any license not readable must be accompanied by an International Driving License) and held for a minimum of two year. You will also need to present; valid Debit or Credit card and two identifications, in the form of a utility bill or Bank Statement, under the drivers name, with the drivers current permanent address on it. The bill must not be more than 2 months old. We do not accept a passport as an I.D.

3. Is there a maximum or minimum age requirement for renting a vehicle with Capital Hire?
The minimum age for a driver to rent a vehicle with Capital Hire is 25 years and above. The license must be held with the driver for a minimum of 2 years.

4. What method of payments are accepted by Capital Hire?
All the payments accepted by Capital Hire must be made on a Debit or Credit card. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express (subject to a 5% surcharge), Switch and Solo.

5. Can another person other than a driver pay for the Capital Hire’s rental?
The card holder including actual payment card must be present for all transactions. If the payee is a company, we can accept payment by having the card holder complete a credit card authority form, taking full responsibility of the rental. A photocopy of the card used for payment will be taken at the counter.

6. Can the payment be made on one location and the car picked up from another location?
We provide our customers with this facility within our locations, with prior notice to the respected branch.

7. What types of insurance can I get if I take Capital Hire UK’s insurance?

8. Can I hire the car on my own insurance?
A valid insurance certificate needs to be provided at the time of the contract, stating clearly that Capital Hire vehicle, will be covered by the customers own insurance.

9. Can I get a vehicle delivered and collected from my address?
You certainly can, but by paying an additional charge, which is agreed, with the Capital Hire representative.

10. Who will be liable for the congestion charge?
The congestion charge will be the liability of the customer. If you want us to pay for the congestion charge, we can do that but there will be additional charges involved. For more details call the branch.

11. Can anyone other than myself drive the vehicle?
The name of the main driver is stated on the contract. Any additional drivers can be added on our insurance by providing a valid driving license.

12. Will there be a deposit taken on my card when I collect the car?
There is a standard security deposit charge which is taken upfront on the customers card and varies from vehicle to vehicle. It is refundable on the return of the vehicle if there are no extra charges involved.

13. Is there a mileage restriction on the vehicle?
Not all cars are subject to a mileage charge, however Prestige, Sports Cars, Minibuses and Vans are. For more information call the respective location.

14. Do I need to check the condition of the vehicle prior to leaving the location?
Before handing the keys over to the customer, we do a joint damage inspection, with the customer, on the damage inspection report. On this report, we note down the fuel level, the mileage, and the apparent damage on the vehicle.

15. Can I drive the rented vehicle into another country?
Capital Hire permits the customer to take the vehicle outside the geographical borders of Britain to a number of countries with prior notice and the arrangement of the additional insurance. For more information check out with the rental agents at the respective locations.

16. What if I have an accident?
Capital Hire provides a 24 hour breakdown cover which needs to be dialled in case of any unfortunate event. In the event of a breakdown or an accident you will receive prompt assistance.
An accident report form needs to be filled in by the driver in the case of an accident, giving a full account of the circumstances in which the accident happened.

17. Can I extend the rental agreement?
You can certainly extend the rental agreement by contacting the respective branch you hired the vehicle from, prior to the termination of the contract. The extension is subject to the vehicle availability and extra payments. The extra charges will be calculated on the pro rata basis with an authorisation requested on the given debit or credit card.

18. What happens if I return the car late?
In most cases the returns of less that 1 hour late (59 minutes), will not be charged for any extra days. Any returns 60 minutes or later, will result in an extra days charge, to the customer, on return of the vehicle.

19. Do I need to return the car with a full tank of fuel?
The fuel level that the car is rented with, has to be returned at the same level. Any shortage in the fuel level will be charged to the customer on return of the vehicle.

20. Can I return the vehicle outside the location’s opening hours?
You may return the vehicle outside the location opening hours in some locations with prior notice. The vehicle will be the customers responsibility until it has been checked by the Capital Hire representative.

21. Does Capital Hire offer one way rentals?
One way rentals are only possible within a radius of 25 miles of the location to any airport. We do not offer any one way drop off’s to another city.

22. What is the Capital Hire cancellation policy?
If you give more than *120 business hours notice this will levy a cancellation charge of £100.00 + VAT. If the cancellation is within 24 business hours of the reservation then a full cancellation charge of the rental cost will apply. *Peak Seasons full cancellations may apply.

23. Is a Security Deposit required?
Yes. A security deposit is required as a security bond held against the vehicle during your hire. This is to cover damage, fuel shortage and any penalty contraventions received during your hire period. The deposits to differentiate based on what vehicle you hire from £250 – £1,000.

24. Can I drive a 12, 15 or 17 Seater on a standard UK driving licence?
In general – Yes. Our Insurance will permit the use of a large people carrier {above 9 Seater} should the purpose of hire be social / private, {an insurance fee will apply for non D1 License holders}. If the purpose of hire is Hire & Reward i.e Company Usage – whereby you are being employed to operate the vehicle then a D1 category will be required.
